We’ve Added a New Service!

Due to popular demand, Water Laboratories now offers Most Probable Number (MPN) Coliform Testing certified by the Department of Health. This method will enable us to provide an approximate count of coliform bacteria in a sample. Before, we simply tested for thepresence or absence of coliform, the method used for real-estate transactions that required certified testing.

A specific example of when MPN may be useful is during well-disinfection. If a well is tested positive for coliform bacteria after disinfection, you may have a better idea of volume of disinfectant for the subsequent treatment if you have the MPN data.

This additional testing option has been approved by Standard Methods, NELAC and the MN Department of Health.

  • The MPN coliform test method used in our laboratory detects down to one organism per 100 mL with a 95% confidence limit.
  • We can offer fast turn-around analysis for this test.
